No new year celebrations
for me this time,
for SHE has finally succumbed to the brutal crime..
no change will this make in general i know,
but perhaps the mourning will make my guilt a bit low..
Guilt of not feeling HER pain, being a girl,
guilt of smiling all this while around a broken pearl..
the way we mourn when a dear one departs,
stranger was SHE, but her death has shaken many hearts!
My mourning is not just for this poor soul,
but it is for this issue of an insecure nation as a whole..
Yesterday was SHE, tomorrow it can be me or someone dear,
with the culprits or those in making, having no fear!
Thinking of all women who lose their self respect and life daily,
Pondering over the issue, my emotions rally..
Feeling the pain, the departed soul had to bear,
I am sorry i will be unable to say - happy new year...!!
